Lady Blue Knights shut out Salem

The Urbana University women's soccer team blanked host Salem International University 3-0 Tuesday afternoon for their second straight victory. The Blue Knights improve to 8-6-2 overall. Urbana is 8-2-2 in their last 12 contests. Salem slips to 3-12-0.

The Blue Knights got on the board right before the end of the first half. On an Abby Pearson corner kick, Bailey Domer (pictured) headed it in to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage at the break. The goal was Domer's third of the season. Another Urbana freshman, Sierra Higginbotham, scored on an assist from Pearson early in the second half, and junior Brittany Mazzu concluded UU's scoring on an assist from freshman Brandi VanderYacht in the 87th minute. Senior goalkeeper Meghan Taucher made one save in goal to earn her fourth shutout in the past five games. The reigning G-MAC Player of the Week now has 5 solo shutouts this season, and 12 in her career.

The Blue Knights have a pair of regular season road games remaining this week. On Thursday afternoon, Urbana travels to Alderson-Broaddus College for a 4:00 p.m. match. The Blue Knights wrap up their regular season on Sunday at Ursuline College.
