Urbana Earns First Win of the Season - men's b-ball

Less than 24 hours after scoring 66 points in a loss to the #1 team in the country, the Urbana University men’s basketball team earned a win while notching just 62 points on Saturday afternoon.  The Blue Knights bounced back from Friday night’s loss to #1 West Liberty by running away from the Tigers from Holy Family University 62-50.

Urbana thrived with the slower pace, shooting 48% from the field while holding the Tigers to just 35% shooting.  The Blue Knights also out-rebounded their opponent 37-24.  Leading the way for Urbana was junior guard Josh Brown.  Brown bagged three treys en route to a team-high 15.  Fellow junior Danny Goins followed his strong opening night performance with 13 points and 6 boards.  Armond Battle added 10 points, 4 boards and 3 assists, and sophomore Casey Baker chipped in 6 points and a team-high 9 boards.

Urbana improves to 1-1 after the opening weekend at Cedarville’s Don Callan Classic.  On Thursday, the Blue Knights travel to perennial powerhouse Kentucky Wesleyan for a 7:00 p.m. central time tip-off.
