The Bellefontaine and Indian Lake girls basketball teams kicked off their respective seasons Friday with wins, while Riverside dropped its opener.
The Lady Chiefs were 51-44 winners over host Wapakoneta in the first round of the Redskins' Tip-Off Tournament.
Bellefontaine fell behind the hosts 19-13 after the first quarter, but outscored the Redskins 17-10 in the second to take a 30-29 halftime lead, which it rode to a seven-point win.
The Chiefs were paced by Brenda Johnson's 10 points, while Regan Price, Kameren Haley and Jazmyn Haley each scored nine points for the winners.
Bellefontaine will play Waynesfield-Goshen tonight in the championship game at Wapakoneta High School. The Tigers defeated Troy Friday to make it to the finals.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:45 pm.
The Lady Lakers also won their opener by posting a convincing 46-32 win over New Bremen. Haley Boberg had a game-high 15 points for the Lakers, while Mikaela Oyer chipped in with six points and 13 rebounds.
New Bremen won the JV game 44-29.
In other non-league action, Riverside held a three-point lead halfway through the third quarter, but was was outscored 20-9 in the fourth, eventually falling 44-32 to host Sidney Lehman.
Mara Ledley, Brooke Hickey and Monica Hurley each netted seven points for the Lady Pirates, while Elizabeth McGowen pulled down 11 rebounds in the loss.
There was no JV game.
Riverside will host West-Liberty Salem in a non-league game Thursday.
