Lady Tigers shoot past Riverside; Jr. High Raiders roll (Audio & video included)

The West Liberty-Salem girls’ basketball team traveled to Riverside Thursday night.

The varsity Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Pirates 56-24.

Melany Ward led the Lady Tigers with 15 points and Maria Daulton and Taylor Day each contributed 8 points.

For Riverside, Morgan Robison scored 5 points.

The Lady Tigers' defense came out strong in the first quarter holding Riverside to 1 point, 16-1.

West Liberty-Salem led at halftime 33-14.

West Liberty-Salem Coach Dennis McIntosh comments on the victory.

The varsity Lady Tigers (1-2) host Greeneview and Riverside (0-2) travels to Botkins Saturday.

West Liberty-Salem won the JV game 49-16.

Ashley Holleron scored 11 points for the Lady Tigers.

Jr. High:

The Benjamin Logan 7th grade girls team defeated Mad River 30-18 in their season-opener.

Nikki Current had 17 points and McKenzie McManus scored 8 points.

The 8th grade Lady Raiders beat Mad River 23-14 in their first game of the season.

Hayley Boysel had 11 points and 14 steals.

Coreen Crosby and Darian Rockhold each added 2 points.

The Raiders will play at Northwestern on Monday.

The Indian Lake 8th grade girls team fell to Tecumseh 24-23.

Sam Miller had a game-high 11 points and 5 steals.

Brooke Lewis recorded 4 points and 13 rebounds.

Kennedy Wallbrown tallied 3 points and 4 steals, Morgan Evilsizor had 3 points, and Olivia Amspaugh added 2 points.

The Lakers are 1-1.
