Updated: Varsity Lady Tigers basketball defeats Southeastern – Thursday scoreboard

Several area basketball teams hit the court Thursday.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity girls defeated visiting Southeastern 51-44.

Melany Ward scored 19 points, Taylor Day tallied 8 points, and Maria Daulton added 7 points.

The Tigers are 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the OHC.

The Riverside varsity girls fell to Fairbanks 56-23.

The visiting Panthers jumped out to a 28-9 halftime lead.

Emily Teague led the Pirates with 6 points.

Riverside had 48 turnovers and shot 20 percent (7-for-35) from the field.

The Pirates are 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the NWCC.

The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade girls toppled Springfield Catholic 39-23.

Mikaila McIntosh tallied 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists, Lily Yoder contributed 10 points and 3 assists, Jenna Magnuson recorded 4 points and 4 rebounds, and Kiana Reames added 8 rebounds.

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade girls beat Springfield Catholic 37-23.

Jonni Parker recorded 18 points and 14 rebounds, Laine Godwin contributed 8 points and 7 rebounds, and Kenedie Cox and Taylor Lauck each added 4 points and 2 assists.

Both junior high Lady Tigers teams improve to 4-0 and travel to Cedarville Monday.

The Bellefontaine 8th grade girls fell to visiting Tecumseh 31-19.

Amarii Vickers had 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals, Terra Knight tossed in 4 points, and Kassidy Sullivan recorded 3 points and 6 rebounds.

The Bellefontaine 7th grade girls lost to Tecumseh 38-15.

Emily Mitchell scored 8 points.

The Chiefs will host Mad River on Monday.

The Indian Lake 8th grade girls defeated Northwestern 33-29.

Samantha Miller had a game-high 14 points and 10 rebounds, Morgan Evilsizor recorded 13 points and 9 rebounds, Olivia Amspaugh dropped in 4 points, and Brooke Lewis added 2 points and 7 rebounds.

The Lakers are 3-2.

Boys finals:

The Riverside freshman team outscored Houston 42-38.

Jesse Kean had 13 points, Dakota Bollinger scored 9 points, Ross Stevens tallied 8 points, and Shawn Crawford added 5 points.

The Riverside 8th grade boys shot past Holy Angels 44-34.

Kurt Waters led with way with 24 points.

The 7th grade Pirates lost to Holy Angels 39-34.

Jason Yoder, Caleb Stevens, and Trey Lane each scored 10 points.

The Indian Lake 8th grade boys blitzed Northwestern 51-15.

Andrew Hulbert led all scorers with 10 points, Nate Kaffenbarger had 9 points, Alex Jacobs tossed in 7 points, and Tyler Reprogle had 6 points.

The Lakers (3-0) will play Tipp City on Monday.

The Bellefontaine 8th grade boys came from behind with a 19-5 run in the fourth quarter to defeat Tecumseh 47-41.

Dawsin Tillman had 23 points and Hayden Nease added 10 points.

The Bellefontaine 7th grade team edged Tecumseh 39-38 for their first win of the season.

Austin McIntosh hit the game-winning basket with less than a second remaining on a pass from Tommy Belser.

Spencer George had 16 points, McIntosh tossed in 7 points, Evan Smith recorded 6 points, and Belser added 4 points.

The Chiefs will visit Mad River on Monday.

Calvary Christian beat Holy Rosary 37-34.

Parker Grothaus contributed 24 points and 12 rebounds and Josh Kilgore produced 9 points and 14 rebounds.

The Spartans will travel to Sidney Christian Academy Monday.
