Updated: Chiefs shoot to first win, Tigers edge Southeastern (Audio included)

Several area basketball teams were in action Tuesday.

The Bellefontaine varsity boys’ basketball team defeated visiting Greenon Tuesday night 67-39 on WBLL for their first win of the season.

The Chiefs, who led 29-27 at the half, dominated the final two quarters.

Bellefontaine used their defense and transition game to outscore the Knights 38-12 after the break.

Five players reached double figures.

Senior Matt Gump had 12 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Tristin Tillman scored a career-high 12 points. He was named the Steve Austin's Player of the Game.

Max Oyer dropped in 11 points, Logan Mitchell scored 10 points, and Caleb Mitchell tallied 10 points in his first game of the season.

Caleb missed the first two games while recovering from a foot injury.

Anthony Colletti paced the Knights with 17 points. Fellow senior Cody Carpenter added 11.

Bellefontaine is 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the CBC. They will visit Kenton Ridge Friday night on WBLL.

Greenon is 2-3, 0-1. They will host Indian Lake on Friday.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity boys edged visiting Southeastern 63-60.

Travis Mayse and Landon Hormann each scored 15 points and Grant Burden added 14 points.

The varsity Tigers move to 3-1 and 2-0 in league play.

The West Liberty-Salem JV boys beat Southeastern 41-30.

Austin Miller recorded 11 points.

Other varsity boys finals:

Springfield Shawnee ran past Indian Lake 74-47. The Lakers are 0-5.

Tecumseh defeated Urbana 55-50. The Arrows are 4-0.

Graham stifled Dayton Stebbins 47-35.

Greeneview edged Mechanicsburg 58-53.

Kenton Ridge outscored Northwestern 60-52. The Cougars are 2-1.

Jackson Center beat Botkins 54-43. The Tigers are 5-0.

The Riverside varsity girls lost at Fairlawn 63-39. The Jets snapped a 53-game losing streak.

Monica Hurley recorded 9 points and Mara Ledley and Chelsea Giles added 8 points.

The Pirates are 0-6.
