The Bellefontaine football team will have a new head coach next year.
The administration has decided against renewing the contract of Chris Schmidt (pictured).
Superintendent Harman recently met with Schmidt.
Harman said it was a tough decision. She commented, "The administration wants to see the program go in a different direction, however, Chris is a great guy."
Schmidt shared the school's decision with the football team Monday afternoon.
Schmidt, who teaches social studies at the high school, led the Chiefs for three years. His overall record was 7-22. Bellefontaine went 1-8 this year.
Schmidt was a standout football player for BHS. He was a two-way starter on the Chiefs first-ever playoff team in '95, then was a co-captain at Wittenberg.
Listen to Schmidt reflect on the non-renewal and discuss his future plans.
