Updated: Chiefs edge Sidney in overtime, Lakers post first win - Basketball scoreboard (Audio included)

Several area basketball teams were in action Tuesday.

On 1390 WBLL, the Bellefontaine varsity boys edged visiting Sidney 54-49 in overtime.

Matt Gump (pictured shooting a free throw) scored 20 points and received Steve Austin's Auto Group Player of the Game honors. Max Oyer recorded 10 points and Brett Wisner and A.J. Gorham each added 8 points for the Chiefs.

For Sidney, Tyree Manley scored 16 points, Lorenzo Taborn tallied 11 points, and James Daniel and Eric Beigel each scored 8 points.

The Chiefs led at the end of the 1st quarter 14-13, but trailed by ten points at halftime, 27-17.

The Chiefs outscored the Yellow Jackets 17-9 in the 3rd to trail 36-34.

The Chiefs and Yellow Jackets tied at the end of regulation, 47-47.

In overtime, the Chiefs outscored Sidney 7-2 to win 54-49.

The Chiefs have won three straight to improve to 3-2 and will host Tipp City Friday on WBLL.

The Yellow Jackets fall to 0-6.

The JV Chiefs defeated Sidney 57-43.

The Indian Lake varsity boys steamrolled Northwestern 68-36 for their first win of the year.

Christian Grider led the attack with 18 points. Jalon Tuttle and Chris Teague each scored 13.

The Lakers are 1-6.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity boys ran past host Cedarville 69-41 for their fifth straight win.

Landon Hormann led a balanced attack with 20 points, Grant Burden tossed in 17, and Jaiden Merrick scored 10.

The Tigers are 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the OHC.

The JV Tigers beat the Indians 34-24.

Ross Kelley had 13 points.

In varsity girls, Benjamin Logan rolled at Riverside 47-23.

The Raiders raced to a 28-10 halftime lead.

Senior Ciarra Wirick had 19 points and 5 steals.

For Riverside, Brooke Hickey scored 11 points. The Pirates are 0-8.

Benjamin Logan won the JV contest 40-15. Holly Parker had 6 points.

Taylor Stevens led the Pirates with 6 points.

Jr. High:

The Bellefontaine 8th grade boys defeated Benjamin Logan 42-31.

Hayden Nease had 17 points and Dawsin Tillman added 13.

The Chiefs (5-1) will visit Ridgemont on January 3rd.

The Bellefontaine 7th grade boys edged Benjamin Logan 37-34.

Spencer George led all scorers with 18. Nick Lyons, Cameron Mitchell, and Drew Jackson each added 4 points.

For the Raiders, Grant Ward tossed in 15 points, Jake Henman recorded 8 points, and Daniel McPherson tallied 6 points.

The Riverside 8th grade boys topped Ridgemont 65-50.

Kurt Waters recorded 25 points, Hank Harshbarger produced 20 points, and Tyler Sanford added 8 points.

Riverside hit 21 of 24 free throws.

The 8th grade Pirates improve to 4-2.

The Riverside 7th grade boys beat Ridgemont 31-17.

Caleb Stevens tallied 12 points, and Nick Hall, Jason Yoder, and Gavin Stallard each added 4 points.

The 7th grade Pirates improve to 4-2.

The Indian Lake 8th grade boys handled Kenton 49-32.

Alex Jacobs and Nate Kaffenbarger each scored 18 points, Tyler Reprogle poured in 6 points, Dalton Faler dropped in 3 points, and Andrew Hulbert and Jacob Brunson each added 2 points.

The Lakers (7-0) will host Benjamin Logan Thursday.

The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade girls beat South Vienna 27-10.

Lily Yoder recorded 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 steals, Sophie Farquarson grabbed 5 rebounds, and Mikalia McIntosh had 7 points and 2 steals.

The 8th grade Lady Tigers improve to 7-1 in the OHC.

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade girls defeated South Vienna 42-17.

Jonni Parker scored 21 points, Taylor Lauck recorded 6 points and 3 steals, and Laine Godwin and Tory Cordell each contributed 6 points.

For South Vienna, Hayley Suchland scored 15 points.

The 7th grade Lady Tigers climb to 7-1 in the OHC.

The Benjamin Logan 8th grade girls stifled Bellefontaine 33-15.

Darian Rockhold had 11 points, Addie Rodenberger scored 9, Hayley Boysel recorded 8 points and 10 steals, Coreen Crosby dropped in 5 points, and Brooke Watson had a team-high 7 rebounds.

For Bellefontaine, Amarii Vickers had 6 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals, Terra Knight scored 3 points, and Kassidy Sullivan, Mallory Centers, and McKenzie Smith each added a 2 points.

The Benjamin Logan 7th grade girls defeated Bellefontaine 34-25.

Nikki Current scored a game-high 18 points, Mackenzie McManus had 6 points, Stevie Plikerd and Jazi McKeen each recorded 4 points, and Kinzie Jones added 2 points.

For Bellefontaine, Emily Mitchell had 8 points, McKenzie Haley grabbed 7 rebounds, and Zoe Price had 6 rebounds.

Both Benjamin Logan teams are 7-0.

The Indian Lake 8th grade girls lost to Kenton 35-25.

Sammi Miller had 15 points and 8 rebounds, Morgan Evilsizor recorded 5 points and 12 rebounds, and Kennedy Wallbrown tallied 5 points and 8 rebounds.
