Snowboarders, here's your chance to ride with an Olympian.
Louie Vito (pictured), Olympian and 2012 overall champion of the U. S. Grand Prix and Dew Cup, is coming to Mad River Mountain for his annual rail jam Saturday. It's one of the largest rail jams in the Midwest.
Registration is from noon to 3 p.m., and the Louie Vito Rail Jam, open only to snowboarders, starts at 2 p.m. Categories are ages 10-13, 14-17 and 18+. Overall champions are entered to win a trip to Windells Camp in Oregon next summer.
Vito will be available for autographs from 1-3 p.m. in the Loft Bar. Fireworks are planned at 9:45 p.m. Hip-hop artist Ron E. Polo takes the stage at 10 p.m. with a live show.
This is the ninth year for Vito and his family hosting the charitable rail jam at his hometown hill. The entry fee is $10 or a nonperishable food item that is donated to the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry in Bellefontaine.
Louie grew up riding at Mad River Mountain with his dad, Lou.
Vito just took second at the Dew Tour Championship in Breckenridge, Colorado, two weeks ago. His next competition will be the U.S. Grand Prix at Copper Mountain, Colorado, in early January.
