Tigers shoot past Triad, Chiefs drop close one

Area schools had varsity boys’ basketball teams on the court Friday.

It was all West Liberty-Salem as they rolled past Triad 76-52 on 98.3 WPKO.

The Tigers shot out to a 34-7 1st quarter lead and never looked back.

Steve Austin’s Auto Group Player of the Game honors went to Grant Burden with 19 points.

Landon Hormann scored 16 points, Max Bailey contributed 13 points, and Travis Mayse added 10 points for the Tigers.

For the Cardinals, Collin Watson recorded 19 points and Christopher Nott tallied 15 points.

West Liberty-Salem improves to 8-2 and 6-0 in conference play.

Triad falls to 2-7 and 2-3 in league action.

On 1390 WBLL, Bellefontaine lost at Tecumseh 41-38.

The Chiefs led through most of the game.

Jake Kennedy scored 15 points for the Chiefs and earned Steve Austin’s Auto Group Player of the Game honors.

For Tecumseh, Dalton Davis recorded 14 points and Gabe Winans-Berner added 10 points.

Tecumseh improves to 10-1 and 4-0 in league play.

Bellefontaine falls to 5-3 and 1-2 in league play.

Ridgemont beat Riverside 58-47.

For the Gophers, Tyler Tillman recorded 15 points and Josh Corbin added 13 points.

The Gophers improve to 2-8 and 1-2 in league play.

Jackson Center topped Fairlawn 62-50.

Alex Meyer scored 25 points for Jackson Center.
