The final score doesn't tell the whole story in this game as Indian Lake overcame an early 8-point deficit Monday night at Riverside on 98.3 WPKO and beat the Pirates 57-42.
The Pirates jumped on Indian Lake early in the first quarter with leads of 8-2 and 11-3. They would have their largest lead of the game at the end of the frame 16-7.
Indian Lake started chipping away at the lead in the second thanks to a full-court press that gave Riverside fits. Indian Lake would see their first lead in the game deep in the quarter after a 3-point shot put them up 22-20. A back-and-forth last few minutes of the half saw Indian Lake take a 26-25 lead to the locker room.
It was all Indian Lake in the second half as they outscored the Pirates in the final two stanzas 31-17. Indian Lake forced 30 Riverside turnovers on the night and took advantage of Riverside fouls making 22 of 33 from the charity stripe.
For Indian Lake, Allison Knief scored 10 points and received Steve Austin’s Auto Group Player of the Game honors. Sydney Miller totaled 16 points and Mikaela Oyer contributed 11 points for the Lady Lakers.
For Riverside, Mara Ledley scored 10 points and Brooke Hickey added 9 points.
Riverside falls to 4-15 on the season. They will host Lima Perry Thursday.
Indian Lake improves to 9-10 and hosts Graham Saturday.
The Bellefontaine 8th grade boys beat Fairbanks 57-34.
Hayden Nease scored 17 points, Clay Wisner contributed 12 points, and Dawsin Tillman, Jacob Miller, and DeWaine Davis each tallied 8 points.
The 8th grade Chiefs improve to 10-3 on the year and host Northwestern Thursday.
The Bellefontaine 7th grade boys handled Fairbanks 41-20 to move to 7-6.

Zoe Price recorded 7 points and 6 steals, Emily Mitchell had 6 points and 5 steals, and Madison Aldo tallied 4 points and 8 rebounds.
The 7th grade Lady Chiefs move to 10-5 and travel to Northwestern Thursday.
The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade boys lost to South Vienna 39-38 in overtime.
Luke Woods recorded 17 points and Brandon Wolfe, Jerret Smith, and Trent Schmucker each added 5 points.
The 8th grade Tigers fall to 11-3 on the season.
The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade boys defeated South Vienna 41-25.
Braden Miller scored 12 points and James Loffing added 10 points.

The Benjamin Logan 8th grade boys beat Kenton.
Trey Wilson had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Joel Dixon added 7 points.
The Benjamin Logan 7th grade boys edged Kenton 42-41.
Hunter Niece produced 12 points, Daniel McPherson scored 8 points, and Presten Cozad contributed 7 points.
The Benjamin Logan 8th grade girls fell at Kenton 35-20.
Darian Rockhold had 12 points and Hayley Boysel added 6.
The Raiders are 11-3.
In 7th grade, Kenton rallied to defeat previously unbeaten Benjamin Logan 44-36 in double overtime.
The Raiders squandered an 8-point lead in the fourth quarter.
