The Bellefontaine varsity boys basketball team traveled to Elida Tuesday night for a non-league contest. The home-standing Bulldogs overcame a two-point halftime deficit and defeated the Chieftains 56-45.
Elida outscored Bellefontaine 32-19 in the second half.
Aric Thompson led the Bulldogs with 18 points, including three 3-pointers. The senior swingman was named the Steve Austin's Player of the Game. Junior standout Dakota Mathias was held to 12.
For the Chiefs, junior AJ Gorham had 11. Matt Gump and Logan Mitchell each had 10.
Elida is 12-8 and plays at Celina Friday.
Bellefontaine is 10-10 and jumps back into CBC play Friday night at Dayton Stebbins on WBLL.

The JV Chiefs edged the Bulldogs 53-50 to move to 18-2.
The Indian Lake varsity boys defeated host Waynesfield-Goshen 86-75.
Sophomore guard Jalon Tuttle had 32 points to lead the Lakers. Christian Grider recorded a double-double with 23 points and 17 rebounds. Brennon Lump added 14 points. The Lakers are now 5-15. They will host Benjamin Logan Friday night on WPKO.
Urbana beat host Sidney 63-55.
Tristan Singer led the Hillclimbers with 25. The senior guard hit 11-of-12 free throws and tossed in a pair of three-pointers.
Urbana is 14-6; the Yellow Jackets are 3-18.
Ft. Loramie knocked off visiting Botkins 60-47.
