Greenon used a strong first quarter to oust the Bellefontaine Lady Chiefs Tuesday night in the Division II Sectional Semi-Final from Tecumseh. The Knights dashed out to a 17-3 lead after the first quarter en route to a 61-52 win.
Bellefontaine fought and clawed throughout the night, but never got as close as 7 points. Every time the Chiefs would mount a small run the Knights answered with one of their own.
Steve Austin's Auto Group Player of the Game honors went to Bellefontaine's Brenda Johnson scoring 20 points. Sajah Carter added 16 points for the Lady Chiefs.
Bellefontaine bows out at 15-9.
Greenon improves to 17-6 and will face top-seeded Dayton Carroll Saturday in the sectional final.
The Urbana varsity girls fell to Dayton Carroll 73-38 in the other sectional semifinal matchup Tuesday night.
The Lady Hillclimbers finish the season 10-14.
Division IV sectional semifinals at Sidney:
Russia defeated Botkins 48-43.
Mechanicsburg outscored Fairlawn 51-43.
The Indians (21-3) will face Russia (15-8) for the sectional final Saturday at noon.
In Division I, Tecumseh beat Springboro 62-51. The Arrows are 23-1.
