Whatever coach Aaron Hollar said to his Tigers team at halftime Tuesday night worked because West Liberty-Salem erased a 30-23 deficit at the break and outscored Waynesville 44-14 over the final 16:00 to cruise to a 67-44 win in a Division III sectional semifinal matchup at Tecumseh.
WL-S came out in the third on fire scoring 20 points in the first five minutes of the quarter grabbing a 40-35 lead. From there the lead continued to grow as the defense made stop after stop. As the final horn sounded a stunned Waynesville team was left scratching their heads wondering what happened between the first and second half.
Landon Hormann recorded a double-double with 27 points and 12 rebounds to be named the Steve Austin's Auto Group Player of the Game. Grant Burden and Ben Burden each tossed in 9 points.
