Urbana University’s softball team is off to a blue-hot start this season, going 7-0 on its Spring Break Trip, finishing with an 8-0 whitewash of Robert Morris University-Springfield Friday.
Junior Haley Jo Kolmerten (pictured) tossed a one-hitter for the Blue Knights, striking out 14 Eagles and walking just three in going the distance. Kolmerten had four wins for the week, allowing just one earned run while on the mound, while the Blue Knights as a team outscored their opponents 56-2 over the seven games.
In Friday’s game, Ashley Skinner homered while Brooke Shultz and Amber Beeman each collected two hits.
Dating back to last season, the Blue Knights have won a school record 13 straight games.
