Four local athletes competed in the Ohio Indoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Akron on Saturday.

West Liberty-Salem senior Meghan Vogel won the 1600 meter state title in the girls Division 2/3 meet. Vogel ran a personal best indoor time of 5:14.76 to win her second state high school title and her 4th 1st team All-Ohio recognition.
On the boys side, West Liberty-Salem junior Taylor Cordell also earned a place on the podium with a 6th place finish in the 60 meter hurdles. Cordell ran a personal best 8.31 in the prelims to get him to the finals and ran an 8.35 in the finals.
Two Bellefontaine girls competed in the Division I meet.
Senior Alexa Haushalter finished 9th in pole vault by clearing 10’. She had a qualifying vault of 10’6” earlier this year.
Sophomore Brenda Johnson placed 11th in the shot put with a heave of 35’8”. Johnson had a personal best of 37’8” earlier this year to qualify.
Athletes had to be in the top 16 in the state to compete in their respective division.
