The West Liberty-Salem girl’s track and field team opened the season at the Versailles Lady Tiger Classique Invitational Saturday. The Lady Tigers placed second in the 10 team Black Division.
Freshman Morgan Freyhof kicked off her high school career winning the 100 and 200 meter dashes and anchoring the winning 4x100 relay team with teammates Michaela Rausch, Megan Etgen and Abigail Rabenstein. Senior Meghan Vogel won the 1600 and 800 meter runs and Abigail Rabenstein won the 100 meter hurdles.
The 4x800 relay team of Vogel, Jasmine Smith, Shawnda Henault and Alyssa Strickland placed second. Third place finishes were provided by Rabenstein in the 300 hurdles, Maddie Gantz in shot put, Alyssa Strickland in the 3200 meter run and Megan Etgan in pole vault.
