Stewart fires no-hitter - softball/baseball scoreboard

Benjamin Logan run-ruled Riverside in five innings 14-0 on the strength of a no-hitter fired by Courtney Stewart. Stewart finished just one Raider error from a perfect game while striking out eight.

Stewart helped herself with the bat with two hits and three runs. Jess Dodson had three hits and three RBI while Kate Campbell had two hits and drove in four runs.

Baseball

The Bellefontaine Chieftains fell in a non-league game against visiting Marysville 6-3.

Jared Houchin took the loss on the mound. Houchin also had a double and a RBI at the plate.

The Chiefs are 16-8.

BHS Red JV and Marysville traded the lead four times on Saturday, but BHS Red JV ended up on top with a 4-3 win in seven innings over Marysville.

BHS Red JV pulled out the win thanks to a strong fourth inning. BHS Red JV went up for good on an RBI single by Andrew Mitchell bringing home Joe Oliver.

Daniel Boy racked up two RBIs on two hits for BHS Red JV. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the third inning.

Kyle Brunner got the win for BHS Red JV thanks to 11 strikeouts. Brunner allowed three earned runs, seven hits, and two walks over seven innings.

West Liberty-Salem won the opener of a doubleheader at Russia 8-3.

Grant Burden went the distance for the win.

Spencer Whitcraft powered the Tigers with three hits, two runs, and three RBI. Kyle Crawford had two hits with three runs scored.

Russia won the second game.
