Raiders host season-opening cross country meet; Lady Pirates Jackson takes second

Ella JacksonBenjamin Logan hosted the Early Bird Cross Country Invitational Tuesday night.

The varsity boys team finished in second place with 59 points.

Leading the way for the Raiders with top ten finishes were freshman Justin Jordan in 7th place in 19:49 and sophomore Wyatt Warren in 8th place in 20:03. Scoring for the team were Cameron Johnson in 14th place in 21:02, Troy Sellhorst in 16th place in 21:09, Trent Rees in 21st place in 22:57, Orin Reams in 23rd place in 23:39, and Matt Kavanagh in 40th place in 27:24.

The team will be back in action next Tuesday at the Logan County Meet in Bellefontaine.

The Lady Raiders placed 3rd in a field of 7 schools. Leading the team was Krystal Null, who placed 12th in a field of 43 runners. She covered the 3.1 mile course in a time of 24:39. Completing the scoring were Lindsey Longbrake (18), Ashley Gearheart (21), Brooke Watson (26), Maggie Woodruff (27), Anastasia Haywood (33), and Jessica Hillary (41).

The Benjamin Logan Jr. High girls finished 3rd in a field of 7 schools. Leading the team was Macy Arn, who placed 13th in a field of 54 runners. She covered the 2 mile course in a time of 16:11. Completing the scoring were Whitney Shellenbarger (17), Katherine Rhoades (20), Katie Meyer (21), Chloe Woodruff (44), and Cameron Porter (51).

The Benjamin Logan Jr. High boys team placed 5th. Leading the scoring was Daniel McPherson who placed 14th in a field of 72 runners with a time of 14:04. Completing the scoring were Landon Wenger (22), Zane Scheiderer (27), Logan Phillips (28), Chris Blumenschein (32), Jagur Beaschler (44), Nolan, Pelger (47), Ryan Spatz (48), Landyn Inglis (59), and Joel Doss (67).

The Riverside High School team was paced by junior standout Ella Jackson. She came in second place with a time of 22:16. Emily Teague finished in 26:11.

For the Riverside boys, Brett Rappold ran 26:02, Ben Rappold finished in 26:36, Lukeus Dalton ran a 29:56, Blaine Walter had a time of 27:18.

In the Jr. High race, Riverside seventh-grader Jaxon Heath ran a 14:09.

The Bellefontaine Jr. Lady Chiefs finished 4th out 5 teams. Aubry Stolly won the meet with a personal best time of 13:49. Other strong performances included Brooke Champion in 18th, Bailey Morales in 23rd, Justine Scherer in 36th, Kaitey Chervenak in 45th, Caroline Eader in 47th, and Mackenzie Haley in 49th.

The Bellefontaine boys team finished 4th out of 5 teams. Leading the way for the Jr. Chiefs was Michael Horvath in 9th. Other strong finishers included Domonic Wilson in 11th, Jacob Karg in 23rd, Logan Lamb in 35th, Trey Henderson in 46th, Gage Buffkin in 60th, and Weston Rose in 68th.

The Indian Lake Middle School boys team was paced by Tommy Meek, who finished 52nd out of 72 boys with a time of 18:01.

Placing for the Jr. Laker girls out of 54 runners were: Ciara Wall 25th place with a time of 18:02; Deanna Fry 31st place with a time of 18:47; MaryAnn Wahl 33rd place with a time of 19:25; and Alexis Birt 34th place with a time of 19:24.

The Jr. Lakers will run in the Warrior Classic at Northwestern on Saturday.
