Updated: Lady Tigers, Lady Pirates both lose in 3 sets – Thursday volleyball scores

Riverside in actionSeveral area volleyball teams competed Thursday.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity girls lost to Springfield Catholic in 3 sets: 25-20, 25-12, and 25-15.

Jamie Peterson totaled 9 kills, Kaylin Frederick and Mollie Etgen each tallied 3 kills, and Kylee Hormann served 3 aces.

The West Liberty-Salem JV girls won in 2 sets: 25-22 and 25-21.

The Riverside varsity girls lost to visiting Lima Temple Christian in 3 sets: 25-12, 25-21, and 25-23.

For the Lady Pirates, Kerri Meade recorded 8 kills and 8 digs, Sam Egbert tallied 8 points, and Helena Faulder added 5 points.

The Riverside JV team fell to Lima Temple Christian in 2 sets: 25-7 and 25-6.

Riverside will host Fairlawn Saturday.

The Benjamin Logan varsity team suffered their first loss of the season at Northwestern. The scores were 25-23, 24-26, 19-25, 25-19, and 8-15.

Taylor Quay had 10 kills and 5 aces, Tayler Rose contributed 17 points and 12 assists, Alex Thompson was big at the net with 8 blocks and 8 kills, and Brittany Burton dished out 14 assists.

The Raiders fall to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in the CBC.

The JV Raiders beat the Warriors 25-18, 25-16 to move to 6-0.

Bri Frazier had 5 kills, 6 assists, and 4 points. Natalie Drumm served up 8 points and Coreen Crosby recorded 4 aces.

The Benjamin Logan JV and varsity will host Lima Central Catholic on Tuesday in a tripleheader. The freshman team will face Bellefontaine at 4:30. The JV match will start at 5:30.

The Bellefontaine varsity lost at Kenton Ridge 15-25, 25-21, 14-25, and 10-25.

Kenzie Brunswick had 11 kills and 17 digs, Jazmyn Haley tallied 7 kills and 10 digs, Kameren Haley recorded 8 kills and 10 digs, Jordan Lininger delivered 27 assists and 10 digs, and Carley Strzalka added 11 digs.

The Chiefs are 5-1, 1-1.

The JV Chiefs fell 25-22, 24-26, and 15-25.

Savannah Bryson had 14 assists, Amanda Case tallied 9 kills and 14 digs, and Caitlin Hollar added 12 digs.

The Chiefs will host Tecumseh next Thursday.

The Indian Lake varsity outlasted visiting Graham in 5 sets: 25-27, 19-25, 25-21, 25-14, and 15-8.

Brooke Defibaugh led the way with 18 kills, Erin Jacobs had 30 assists, and Michelle Grider added 6 blocks.

The Lakers are 1-1 in the CBC.

The JV Lakers won 25-21, 14-25, and 25-11.

Ashley Holycross had 4 aces and Rachel Kimmel shined on offense.

The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade beat Cedarville in 3 sets: 27-25, 12-25, and 25-17.

Tory Cordell, Macy Murphy, and Abby Dillon led the Tigers.

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade defeated Cedarville in 3 sets: 25-7, 21-25, and 25-9.

Kelsey Day, Hallie Strapp, and Michelle Nitchman played well.
