Updated: Bellefontaine volleyball falls to Urbana – Thursday scores

Area volleyball teams hit the court Thursday.

The Bellefontaine varsity girls lost to Urbana in 3 sets: 25-18, 25-14, and 25-22.

Jazmyn Haley recorded 9 kills and was10-10 serving, Carley Strzalka tallied 9 digs and was 12-12 serving, Kenzie Brunswick had 8 digs and 8 kills, and Jordan Lininger contributed 22 assists and 3 saves.

The Bellefontaine JV team lost to Urbana in 2 sets: 25-18 and 25-13.

Savannah Bryson recorded 7 digs.

Bellefontaine will compete in the Piqua Invitational Saturday.

The Benjamin Logan varsity team swept visiting Dayton Stebbins 25-1, 25-2, and 25-14.

Jennifer Poling led the attack with 32 service points with 7 aces and Brittany Burton recorded 10 service points with 3 aces. Alex Thompson was big at the net with 10 kills and 4 blocks while Taylor Quay added 9 kills and 3 blocks.

The JV Raiders improved to 11-2 on the season with a straight-set victory over Stebbins with scores of 25-17 and 25-7.

Betsy King had 10 assists and 6 service points, Addie Rodenberger recorded 11 service points with 6 aces, and Bri Frazier dished out 5 assists, scored 6 service points, and had 5 kills.

Both teams are back in action next Tuesday as they travel to Indian Lake for the start of the second round of CBC action. Game time is set for 5:30.

The Riverside varsity rallied past host Waynesfield Goshen in five sets. The scores were 11-25, 26-28, 25-12, 25-18, and 15-10.

Kerri Meade had 20 kills and 6 points, Brooke Hickey tallied 8 kills, 11 points, and 16 assists, Jessica Davis recorded 9 kills and 7 points, Lauryn Davis delivered 14 points with 7 aces, Sam Egbert had 21 assists and 9 points, and Aubrey Stephens added 4 kills.

The Pirates are 3-8 overall and 2-1 in the NWCC.

The Indian Lake varsity fell to visiting Kenton Ridge in three sets. The scores were 25-9, 25-13, and 25-19.

Sydney Miller was excellent on serve receive, Sammi Miller led the defense with 10 digs, Brooke Defibaugh blasted 7 kills, and Michelle Grider added 6 kills.

The JV Lakers edged the Cougars 18-25, 25-23, and 25-22.

Kalin Harper led the team in kills and Rachel Kimmel shined on offense.

The reserve team is 7-6.

Jr. High:

The Benjamin Logan 8th grade defeated Mad River in 2 sets: 25-15 and 25-13.

Stanleigh Archer recorded 3 assists, 2 kills, and a touch block, Avery Braun had 4 service points and a touch block, and Makayla Cayot added 2 touch blocks and a kill.

The Benjamin Logan 7th grade beat Mad River in 3 sets: 11-25, 25-10, and 25-22.

LeAnn Regula tallied 2 service points and a kill, Megan Hughes served 3 aces, and Maddison Manns contributed an ace.

Benjamin Logan will compete in a tri-match against Fairbanks and the Holy Angels Saturday.
