Piatt Castle Mac-A-Cheek

The Mac-A-Cheek Foundation for the Humanities is hosting a FREE outdoor event on May 16, 2026, from 11-4 at 10051 Township Road 47. The schedule of family friendly art and science activities will be available by Sunday May 10th at www.piattcastle.org/events. Visit the website for updates.

Visit the Art and Architecture Tent to explore your creativity with Kiearea Henry along with MFH staff and volunteers. In a different tent, complete a flower pounding activity with Shelly Roy and lean about planting wildflowers for pollinators with Kris Shannon, Kris Swisher, and Tonya Reed from the Bellefontaine Rake and Hoe Club.

Hands-on activities that explore nature and wildlife include the popular interactive water table where you can manipulate the effects of erosion and an exhibit on wildlife where you can touch pelts of common Ohio animals. Learn about local birds and complete a nature scavenger hunt. You can also participate in a fun, creative, dramatics-based on a Piatt family nature poem, and dance with our trees along with choreographer Suzanne Dennis.

As part of our AM250-OH programming, Dr. Timothy Anserson with Ohio University will be on site to discuss the cultural geography of the land that surrounds Piatt Castle. We hope to have a book signing for his work, Settling Ohio: First Peoples and Beyond, check the schedule before the event for details.
