Logan County residents will have a safe, indoor way to stay active this winter with the return of the Winter Walking Program, running from January 5 through March 12, 2026.
The program offers free indoor walking opportunities at four convenient locations across the county, giving participants a warm and secure place to exercise during the colder months.
Walking locations and times include:
- Bellefontaine Elementary School, 1001 Ludlow Road
Monday through Thursday, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. - Benjamin Logan Elementary School, 4560 County Road 26
Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. - Indian Lake High School, 6210 State Route 235, Lewistown
Monday through Thursday, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. - Riverside Local Schools, 2906 County Road 24 South, DeGraff
Monday and Wednesday, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
There will be no walking sessions on Monday, January 19, or Monday, February 16, due to school closures. In addition, if a school is closed for any reason, the walking program will not be held that evening.
Participants are asked to enter through designated areas, leave coats at the check-in station, keep bags locked in their vehicles, and sign in and out each visit.
As an added incentive, anyone who participates 10 times or more by February 2, 2026, will receive a free t-shirt at the conclusion of the program.
The Winter Walking Program is made possible through the Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District, Mary Rutan Health, and participating local school districts. Organizers thanked the schools for providing a warm and safe place for residents to stay active throughout the winter.
