Champaign County man sentenced in child exploitation case

A Champaign County man has been sentenced to prison after being convicted on multiple charges involving child sexual exploitation materials.

Champaign County Sheriff Chad Burroughs announced that 40-year-old Adam Longworth was sentenced in Champaign County Common Pleas Court.

According to the court’s sentencing order, Longworth was sentenced to 6 to 9 years in prison for pandering sexual matters involving a minor.

All of the prison terms will be served at the same time.

Longworth was also classified as a Tier II Sex Offender, which requires him to register as a sex offender for 25 years.

The court also ordered a $1,000 fine on each count, with the fines to run concurrently.

Sheriff Burroughs said:

“The exploitation of children is among the most serious crimes we investigate. I want to commend our investigators and the Champaign County Prosecutor’s Office for their dedication to ensuring this offender was held accountable. We remain committed to aggressively investigating crimes against children and protecting the most vulnerable members of our community.”
