A Florida man and woman are facing domestic violence charges following a dispute involving a semi-truck on U.S. Route 33 Friday evening.
Washington Township Police officers were called to the area of U.S. 33 and Township Road 94 around 6:00 p.m. for a reported domestic dispute.
Dispatchers told officers a woman was outside a semi, banging on the vehicle.
They also reported she had disconnected the air brakes from the semi while it was traveling down the road.
Police spoke with 38-year-old Brandon Edwards of Leesburg, Florida.
Edwards told officers his girlfriend, 30-year-old Rayquell Weatherspoon of Lady Lake, Florida, had jumped from the semi with his phone and began disconnecting the trailer from the tractor during an argument.
Edwards said the argument started because he was talking to his wife on the phone, which upset Weatherspoon.
Officers observed a fresh cut and blood on Edwards’ lower lip.
He eventually told police Weatherspoon had punched him in the mouth.
Weatherspoon gave officers a different story, saying Edwards had thrown her from the semi while it was moving.
Officers observed large scrapes on her body and what appeared to be gravel residue on her skin and clothing.
Both Edwards and Weatherspoon told police they wanted to pursue charges against the other person.
Because both had injuries from the altercation, police arrested both on charges of domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.
Both Edwards and Weatherspoon were transported to the Logan County Jail.
The semi was towed from the roadway by Top’s Towing
Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Russells Point Police Department assisted at the scene.
