Late Monday, just before 11:00 p.m., Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported burglary in progress at a home on County Road 11 in Bellefontaine.

The caller reported that Tariq Sopher, 24, of Bellefontaine, had broken into her home.

She also told authorities that she had a protection order against Sopher and had locked herself and her child in a car in the garage.

According to the victim, Sopher attempted to confront her at the bedroom window and later damaged the kitchen window.

He then entered the garage before leaving the scene.

Deputies arrived to find fresh tire tracks and footprints around the property and found that both a bedroom and a kitchen window had been forced open.

Law enforcement attempted to locate him at known addresses in Bellefontaine and Marysville.

Marysville Police eventually found Sopher shortly after 1:00 AM Tuesday,  at a home in Marysville, and took him into custody.

Logan County deputies met Marysville Police at the Union County line and transported Sopher to the Logan County Jail.

Sopher was lodged on charges of burglary and violating a protection order.

While in custody, Sopher denied being at the Bellefontaine residence and refused to provide a written statement.
