The Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to two separate domestic-related incidents on Sunday, resulting in one arrest and one summons.
In the first case, deputies were called just before 3:00 p.m. to a residence on County Road 2 near West Mansfield for a report of domestic violence involving a man and a woman.
According to the report, the caller alleged that 66-year-old Nathan Spaulding attempted to hit her with a drill and screwdriver during an argument.
When deputies arrived, Spaulding was outside working on the home and reportedly unaware that 911 had been called.
Deputies spoke with both parties, who gave differing accounts of the incident.
Spaulding told deputies the argument was about household chores and denied making physical contact, stating he was holding tools while getting ready to go outside.
The woman, however, told deputies she believed Spaulding intended to harm her and said he had been physically violent with her in the past.
She also reported feeling unsafe remaining at the residence.
After the investigation, deputies placed Spaulding under arrest.
He was transported to the Logan County Jail and charged with domestic violence.
Earlier that morning, deputies were called to a home on State Route 235 in Belle Center for a separate domestic dispute involving significant property damage.
A woman told deputies that Hayes Godwin, 25, of Belle Center, became enraged the night before and began destroying items inside the home.
Godwin allegedly removed security cameras, punched holes in walls, tore down a ceiling fan, and scattered belongings throughout the residence.
Blood was also found in several areas after he reportedly injured himself during the outburst.
The woman told deputies she feared for her safety during the incident and requested charges be filed.
Deputies later found Godwin at a nearby residence, where he admitted to damaging property but claimed it belonged to him and said no physical altercation occurred between the two.
Godwin was issued a summons instead of an arrest for domestic violence and is scheduled to appear in court later this week.
Both incidents remain under investigation.
