A Springfield man escaped injury after falling asleep at the wheel and crashing Thursday morning in Logan County.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened just after 6:30 a.m. on County Road 153.
The crash report says James Winkle, 30, was driving a 2024 Honda Accord eastbound when he drove off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and then hit several trees.
The vehicle came to rest on the opposite side of a guardrail between the roadway and the tree line.
The crash report states Winkle told deputies he was on his way to work when he fell asleep behind the wheel.
Winkle was not injured in the crash and was issued a citation for failure to control.
