Summer pool season in Bellefontaine will have a slightly later start than expected.

Officials with the Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District announced that the opening of Hoffman Pool has been moved to Monday, May 25, due to weather conditions.

The pool will now officially open on Memorial Day at 12:15 p.m. and remain open through August 2.

Daily hours for the 2026 season are scheduled from 12:15 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Admission is $4 per person, while children ages 2 and under and adults 60 and older are admitted free.

Season memberships are also available through the recreation district.

Originally opened in 1968, Hoffman Pool has served as a summertime destination for generations of local families.

The facility features three diving boards, a large slide, a sand volleyball court, a baby pool area, and a concession stand.

This summer will also mark the final season for the current Hoffman Pool facility before demolition and rebuilding work begins on a new aquatic center planned for Bellefontaine.

The recreation district will again offer American Red Cross swim lessons throughout the summer for children of all ages and skill levels.

Four lesson sessions are planned between June 1 and July 31, including preschool classes, beginner and advanced swim instruction, and parent-and-child baby lessons.

Officials say the first swim lesson session is free with the purchase of a pool membership.

More information about memberships, swim lessons, pool rentals, and summer programming is available through the Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District.
