A Lakeview man was arrested early Friday morning after the Logan County Sheriff’s Office investigated an alleged domestic violence incident that reportedly occurred Thursday evening at a Lakeview residence.
Deputies were dispatched just after midnight Friday after the victim reported the assault had taken place earlier in the day and the suspect had already left the home.
According to the sheriff’s office, the victim told deputies she and Nathan Frazier, 31, argued after he became upset over drawings made by her 12-year-old son.
The disagreement escalated, and she claimed Frazier got in her face, threw and broke items inside the home, spit food in her face, shoved her into a kitchen table, grabbed her by the throat, threw her to the ground, and repeatedly applied pressure to her neck.
Deputies observed red marks and abrasions on the victim’s throat and back and photographed the injuries.
The victim also provided photographs she said were taken shortly after the incident.
The victim told investigators she initially drove to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and later to a Bellefontaine hospital following the incident but decided not to report it or seek treatment at that time.
According to the report, two children were present during the incident and witnessed the assault.
Deputies later contacted Frazier by phone and arranged for the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office to locate him in St. Paris.
He was taken into custody around 4 a.m. and transferred to the Logan County Jail.
Frazier was booked into the Logan County Jail on a charge of strangulation, a fourth-degree felony, and an additional charge of domestic violence is pending.
