Brice Henry appeared in Bellefontaine Municipal Court, via video feed from the Logan County Jail, Wednesday morning before Judge Jacob Estes on a charge of attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

The charge stems from an October 4 incident at the Love’s Travel Stop in Bellefontaine.

According to Bellefontaine Police Chief Chris Marlow, officers were called to Love’s late that evening after receiving a report of an adult male attempting to meet a 15-year-old boy.

Police said Henry had been communicating through a dating app with someone he believed was a 15-year-old male.

That conversation led to a meeting at Love’s Travel Stop.

Police said Henry was arrested following the investigation and initially charged with importuning.

The charge was later changed to attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor with a minor following discussions with the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office.

During the court hearing, Prosecuting Attorney Crystal Welsh said the State has concerns about community safety because of Henry’s position at a local school.

Welsh requested that bond be set at $100,000 cash or surety and that Henry be prohibited from having any unsupervised contact with juveniles.

Judge Estes granted the State’s requests for bond and supervised contact.

Henry has been appointed an attorney, Peter DeSoma.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 14 at 11 a.m.
