Judge Kevin P. Braig of the Logan County Court of Common Pleas, General Division, issued three prison sentences on Wednesday in separate criminal cases.

In State v. David Rupert, the court imposed the maximum 18-month prison sentence after Rupert was convicted of menacing by stalking, a fourth-degree felony.

The sentence followed Rupert’s failure to successfully complete programming at the West Central Community-Based Correction Facility.

According to a discharge report from the facility, Rupert was disruptive within 48 hours of arrival, placed in segregation, and asked staff what rule violation would guarantee his removal from the program.

In State v. James Holland, Judge Braig adopted a joint sentencing recommendation from the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office and defense counsel.

Holland received an 18-month prison sentence for three fourth-degree felony convictions.

In State v. Jakob Ford, the court sentenced the defendant to 24 months in prison following his conviction for aggravated possession of drugs, a third-degree felony.

Assistant Prosecutor Erin Rosen requested the maximum 36-month sentence, citing Ford’s prior criminal history.

Defense attorney John Cunningham asked the court to place Ford on community control rather than impose a prison term.

Judge Braig ultimately ordered the two-year prison sentence.
