The following is a press release from Bellefontaine Police Chief Chris Marlow:
On September 21, 2026, at 5:48 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted in the parking lot of Speedway Central, 329 South Main Street. The traffic stop was the result of a multi-agency narcotics investigation conducted by detectives with the Bellefontaine Police Department, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Sidney Police Department, and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. The Adult Parole Authority and Bellefontaine Municipal Court Probation also assisted with this investigation.
As detectives blocked in the vehicle, the passenger, Winchester Wiley, attempted to flee and was quickly apprehended by detectives. The driver, Keagan Donaldson, surrendered to K9 Pyro and multiple detectives to avoid being dog-bit. After Wiley was detained and Donaldson was in custody, K9 Pyro conducted a free air sniff of the suspect vehicle and gave a positive alert to narcotic odor.
During a probable cause search of the vehicle, detectives located approximately 5 ounces of cocaine, US currency, a digital scale, and multiple cell phones. Wiley and Donaldson were both transported to the Logan County Jail and lodged on parole violations.
Donaldson was released from prison on May 30, 2026, and Wiley was released from prison on June 1, 2026.
After the traffic stop in Bellefontaine, a search warrant was served by detectives in Shelby County, where additional narcotics were recovered.
Significant drug charges are pending on Wiley and Donaldson.
Chief Marlow states, “The ability of a single agency to combat a narcotics problem is not one that can happen in a silo. It often takes the cooperation and coordination of multiple entities. The problem is not a local one; it stretches beyond city limits and borders. These battles aren’t won in the moments the “bust” goes down. They’re won in the weeks, and sometimes months, of investigative work leading up to the bust through intelligence gathering and sharing, and jurisdictional handoffs. I cannot thank our partners with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, the Sidney Police Department, and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office adequately. And I give my abundant thanks to the men and women of the Bellefontaine Police Department”.
