A man was arrested early Saturday morning after deputies found him passed out in the back of a running vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the road.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called shortly after 1:20 AM to the area of State Route 274 near Township Road 53 after a caller reported a suspicious maroon Chevrolet blocking the road.

The caller told dispatch that a man was lying unconscious in the back of the vehicle with the rear hatch open.

The vehicle was still running, and the caller believed the man was heavily intoxicated.

When deputies arrived, they spoke with the driver, Michael Parrish, 61, of Maplewood.

Deputies reported Parrish appeared to be highly intoxicated, had difficulty answering questions, admitted to drinking alcohol, and had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.

Deputies also noted he was unsteady on his feet and needed assistance to maintain his balance.

According to the report, the caller told deputies Parrish had been passed out in the back of the vehicle with no hazard lights activated while the engine remained running.

After waking him, the caller contacted the sheriff’s office.

Parrish was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

He was transported to the Logan County Jail without incident.
