A 49-year-old man from Kenton, Tommy Newland Jr., was arrested on Saturday after a domestic violence incident at a State Route 540 residence.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Newland was taken into custody after deputies responded to a report that he had allegedly pinned a woman to a bed and hit her.
Upon arrival, deputies saw Newland loading items into a pickup truck and noticed signs of intoxication.
Newland denied any physical altercation, claimed the argument was verbal, and that he had never hit the woman.
The victim, however, provided a written statement and photographs, claiming that Newland pinned her to the bed and backhanded her.
She also told deputies that the couple had been fighting over the weekend and that Newland had a history of alcohol abuse.
Records indicate Newland was previously convicted of domestic violence in Alabama on December 6, 2023.
Newland was arrested on charges of domestic violence and is being held in the Logan County Jail.
