A man was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon after becoming caught in an agricultural disc and being dragged by horses along State Route 47 outside of DeGraff.

Multiple emergency units responded to the area around 4:30 p.m.

According to emergency personnel, the horses dragged the man approximately two-tenths of a mile down the road toward his home before stopping.

The man suffered severe lacerations to his lower extremities and road rash.

A passing paramedic who was driving a personal vehicle saw the horses run onto the roadway and noticed the man caught in the agricultural disc. The paramedic called 911 and followed the horses until they stopped.

The paramedic then applied a tourniquet to help control the man’s bleeding until additional help arrived.

Indian Lake EMS transported the man to Lima Memorial Hospital for treatment.
