Two Lakeview men were arrested Thursday afternoon after a traffic stop led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl, according to the Washington Township Police Department.
Just before 2:30 PM, officers on patrol conducted a traffic stop on Bentz Street near State Route 235 for an equipment violation.
The vehicle was driven by 61-year-old Paul Daniels of Lakeview and occupied by 44-year-old Shawn Hamilton of Lakeview.
While speaking with the men, officers observed Hamilton make an unusual movement toward his mouth, leading them to believe he may have been attempting to swallow something.
Daniels was asked to exit the vehicle and consented to a search of his person.
During the search, officers found a clear plastic bag containing methamphetamine inside his wallet.
Hamilton was then asked to step out of the vehicle.
According to police, he admitted to swallowing half of a Percocet tablet as officers approached the vehicle.
During a search, officers discovered a clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance.
The substance field-tested positive for fentanyl.
Both men were taken into custody and transported to the Logan County Jail.
Daniels was charged with possession of drugs, while Hamilton was charged with tampering with evidence and possession of drugs.
