A Logan County dairy farm is being recognized nationally for its work in the organic farming community.
Horizon Organic has announced its 2026 HOPE Award recipients, and Jonathan and Ella King of King Dairy in Rushsylvania have received the HOPE Social Award.
The annual HOPE Awards recognize farmers and others who demonstrate the potential to create positive change on their farms and in their communities while serving as examples for the broader organic farming community.
Ella King says the award is especially meaningful because caring for their cows is at the heart of everything they do.
“Cow care always comes first,” King said. “Receiving this award is such a meaningful recognition of the work we put into caring for our cows and our farm every day.”
King added that building a farm the family can be proud of takes a lot of hard work, with the hope that it can continue for generations.
Horizon Organic announced the award as part of its broader 2026 efforts to support its farmer partners and the future of organic agriculture.
The company works with more than 500 farmer partners across the country, with more than one-quarter of those partnerships lasting at least 10 years.
Thirty farmers have shipped milk to Horizon for more than 20 years.
Horizon also announced its 2026 HOPE Scholarship recipients.
The scholarship program was established in 2007 to help develop the next generation of organic dairy farm leaders by supporting young people from Horizon farm families pursuing careers in organic or sustainable agriculture or large-animal veterinary science.
Over the past 19 years, the program has awarded 114 scholarships totaling more than $300,000.
Horizon is also sponsoring Farm Aid 2026 and the Organic Trade Association’s Organic Week as part of its support for organic farmers and the broader agricultural community.
