Second Harvest Food Bank is preparing to help families this holiday season with special mobile food distributions planned for Logan, Champaign, and Clark counties in November.
The distributions will provide a variety of food items to help residents prepare holiday meals and stock their kitchens for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Organizers emphasize that turkeys and hams will not be distributed.
Instead, families can receive other food items, including whole chicken, ground chicken, sausage, milk, yogurt, cheese, eggs, butter, potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, stuffing, macaroni and cheese, flour, pancake mix, syrup, fruit, and other pantry staples.
The Logan County distribution is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bellefontaine High School, located at 555 East Lake Avenue in Bellefontaine.
Champaign County residents can attend a distribution on Saturday, November 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Urbana Junior High, located at 1673 South U.S. Route 68 in Urbana.
Second Harvest says these will be the only holiday food distributions scheduled in each county this year.
Volunteers are also needed to help with the Logan and Champaign County distributions.
Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Emma Danielsson at [email protected].
Residents are encouraged to share the distribution information with neighbors who may need additional food assistance during the holiday season.
