With America preparing to celebrate its 250th birthday and Logan County welcoming thousands of visitors, Sheriff Randy Dodds is reminding everyone to make safety their top priority behind the wheel.
As a popular resort destination, the Indian Lake area and surrounding communities are expected to see heavy traffic over the next two weekends and the week in between as visitors head to the lake, campgrounds, fireworks shows, festivals, and other summer events.
Motorists should expect delays, especially during the evening hours and around major attractions.
The sheriff is encouraging drivers to put their phones down, slow down, and always drive sober.
He also reminds motorists to be patient, allow extra travel time, and watch for pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcycles, and golf carts, especially around the Indian Lake area.
Dodds says deputies will be out throughout the busy travel period, working to keep roads safe for both residents and visitors.
The sheriff hopes everyone enjoys the holiday and asks everyone to do their part to keep Logan County’s roads safe by putting the phone down, obeying the speed limit, and never driving impaired.
