The Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle rollover crash that occurred Sunday morning just after 8:15 a.m. on State Route 117.
According to troopers, a silver 2006 Honda Odyssey, operated by 66-year-old Cindy Shaw of Maryland, was traveling southbound when she reportedly fell asleep at the wheel.
The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned.
A passenger in the can was the driver’s spouse, Patrick Shaw.
Both Mr. & Mrs. Shaw were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Emergency crews from Richland Township Fire and Huntsville EMS responded to the scene and extricated Mrs. Shaw from the vehicle.
She was transported by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center with serious injuries.
Mr. Shaw was transported by BMRT EMS to Lima Memorial Hospital, also with serious injuries.
Wrens Towing assisted in clearing the scene.
Authorities reported that alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash.
The investigation determined that Mrs Shaw was at fault for failure to maintain control of the vehicle.
