The Ohio University Bobcats traveled to Nebraska to play the Cornhuskers Saturday to open the 2026 season.

Bellefontaine’s Riley Neer was making his first start at wide receiver and made an impact immediately. On the first play from scrimmage, Nick Poulos dropped back and found Neer down the middle for a 68-yard gain. A few plays later, Poulos found Neer for a 4-yard touchdown and the Bobcats grabbed the early lead of 7-0.

Ohio University only trailed 14-13 at halftime, but the second half was a different story. The Cornhuskers seized control and beat the Bobcats 49-21.

Neer ended the game with six catches for 104 yards and a touchdown.

Riley is a redshirt sophomore at OU and is majoring in Pre-Med (Chemistry).

Neer and the Bobcats will be back in action next Saturday (9/12) at home against Jacksonville State.
