Blair lead Tigers past Irish, Packer stays red-hot for Climbers in Friday softball results

West Liberty-Salem 23, Catholic Central 0 (4 innings)

West Liberty-Salem unleashed a dominant offensive performance, rolling past Catholic Central 23-0 in a four-inning run-rule win.

The Lady Tigers piled up 18 hits and five walks, finishing 18-for-32 with 17 RBIs while also capitalizing on six Irish errors.

West Liberty-Salem set the tone early with four runs in the first, highlighted by RBI hits from Kaylee Blair and Rhyla Branham, along with an RBI triple from Olivia Reichardt.

The Tigers broke it wide open in the second, erupting for 10 runs on 10 hits. Blair delivered the biggest swing with a three-run inside-the-park homer to left, while Kiersten Stoll and Karlee Lucas each added triples as the lead ballooned to 14-0.

They kept the pressure on with two more runs in the third, as Ashlyn Yeater scored after a leadoff walk and Emma Liggett added an RBI single. Seven more runs came across in the fourth, capped by back-to-back two-RBI singles from Emily King and Stoll to end it.

Blair led the way with five RBIs, while King, Stoll, and Lucas each drove in three. Stoll and King had three hits apiece, and five Tigers recorded multi-hit games.

In the circle, Liggett tossed a two-hit shutout with four strikeouts.

West Liberty-Salem snaps a losing streak to improve to 5-13 and will host Cedarville on Monday.

Urbana 15, Benjamin Logan 4 (5 innings)

Urbana continued its red-hot stretch at the plate, cruising past Benjamin Logan 15-4 in five innings behind another huge day from Bailee Packer.

The Lady Hillclimbers jumped out early in the first. Chloe Easterday and Addie Fox reached to start the game before Packer drove in a run with a single, and Morgan Boyd followed with a two-run double for a 3-0 lead.

Urbana blew the game open in the second with seven runs. Isla Wooten led off with a triple, Fox drove in a run, and Packer delivered the big blow with a grand slam to right — her fifth homer of the season — pushing the lead to 8-0. Lillian Webb later added a two-RBI single to make it 10-0.

Benjamin Logan got on the board in the third with a sacrifice fly from Rylan Norviel and an RBI single by Adilynne Gregg, but Packer answered immediately with a three-run homer to right, extending the lead to 13-2.

Both teams added a pair of runs late, but Urbana closed out the run-rule victory.

Packer followed up her eight-RBI performance against Bellefontaine by going 3-for-3 with eight RBIs again, highlighted by a grand slam and a three-run homer. Boyd added three hits and three RBIs.

For Benjamin Logan, Gregg led the way with two hits and two RBIs.

Urbana improves to 14-6 and will host Tecumseh on Monday, while Benjamin Logan falls to 7-10 and will face Indian Lake.

Riverside 14, Lehman Catholic 3 (5 innings)

Riverside used a big middle innings surge to roll past Lehman Catholic 14-3 in five innings.

Lehman struck first with three runs in the opening frame, using a string of doubles and taking advantage of a dropped third strike.

Riverside answered in the second with two runs, as Emilee Robinson doubled in a run and Chloe Purtee added an RBI single.

The Lady Pirates took control in the third with a seven-run outburst. Ellie Zwiebel tied the game with a sacrifice fly before RBI singles from Karly Gilman and Emma Strayer gave Riverside the lead. Purtee and Molly Carman added key hits as the lead grew to 9-3.

Riverside sealed it in the fifth. Zoey Ransbottom drove in two with a single, Zwiebel drew a bases-loaded walk, and Strayer ended it with a two-RBI walk-off single.

Purtee led the offense with three hits, while five players had two hits. Ransbottom and Strayer each drove in three runs.

Robinson settled in after the first inning, allowing just three hits the rest of the way and striking out four.

Riverside improves to 10-12 and will travel to Northwestern on Saturday.

Kenton Ridge 27, Graham 2 (5 innings)

Kenton Ridge showcased its firepower in a 27-2 rout of Graham.

The Lady Cougars pounded out 22 hits, including three home runs, finishing 22-for-43 with 23 RBIs while taking advantage of nine Graham errors.

Brenna Fyffe led the charge with a perfect 5-for-5 day, blasting two home runs and two doubles while driving in five runs.

Kenton Ridge broke the game open in the third inning, scoring 14 runs on 11 hits.

In the circle, Ivee Rastatter was dominant, allowing just one hit with 13 strikeouts and no earned runs.

Graham scored its two runs in the fourth, as Mariah Sizemore and Malynn Bacher reached on errors before Abby Chamberlain delivered an RBI single. Another run scored on an error.

Graham falls to 5-13 and will open a two-game set against Shawnee on Monday.
