The Bellefontaine girls’ tennis team competed at the Division II Sectional Tournament Monday at Troy.
The highlight of the day was Mia Brown and Rylee Crabtree securing a spot in the District Tournament for the second year in a row.
The sophomore duo defeated Northwestern 6-0, 6-0, Eaton 6-1, 6-0, and Miami Valley School for Girls 6-3, 6-0 to advance to the sectional semifinals Thursday at Troy. Their finish Thursday will determine their seed for District play.
Oriana Vasquez and Isabella Barton fell to Urbana 7-6, 1-6, 7-5 in a close three-set match.
Sophia Pulfer and Nahla Arruza defeated Valley View 6-4, 6-1 before falling to Tipp City 6-0, 6-0.
In singles play, Olivia Warye defeated Logan Catholic’s Alvarez 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 before falling to Graham’s Capasso 6-0, 6-1.
Brown and Crabtree will return to Troy Thursday for the sectional semifinals, with their placement determining their District Tournament seed.
