The opening day of the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament is underway at the Jerome Schottenstein Center, and several area wrestlers are still alive heading into day two after a busy first session on the mats.

Across Division II and Division III, local programs including Benjamin Logan Raiders, Graham Falcons, Indian Lake Lakers, West Liberty-Salem Tigers, and Mechanicsburg Indians picked up several key wins Friday, with multiple wrestlers advancing to the quarterfinals and others battling through the consolation brackets to keep their seasons alive.

Dominant performances and clutch victories highlighted the opening rounds, while a handful of wrestlers saw their state tournament runs come to an end on the first day of competition.
