Day two of the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament wrapped up Saturday at the Jerome Schottenstein Center in Columbus, with several area wrestlers still in contention heading into the final day of competition.
Across Division II, Division III, and the girls state tournament, local programs including the Benjamin Logan Raiders, Graham Falcons, Indian Lake Lakers, West Liberty-Salem Tigers, Mechanicsburg Indians, and Urbana Hillclimbers picked up key wins throughout Saturday’s sessions. Multiple wrestlers advanced to championship matches, while others battled through the consolation brackets to secure the opportunity to become state placers.
Strong semifinal performances and important consolation victories highlighted the evening session, while several area competitors saw their state tournament runs come to an end as the field narrowed ahead of Sunday’s final rounds.
Day three of the tournament begins Sunday at 9:30 a.m., when wrestlers will compete in placement matches and consolation semifinals before championship bouts take place later in the evening.
