Gregg was electric in the circle, racking up a season-high 12 strikeouts while tossing her second shutout of the year. She worked around traffic in nearly every inning and came up clutch when it mattered most.

Both pitchers were sharp early, as Gregg and Bellefontaine’s Joy Fogan traded scoreless innings through the first three frames. Fogan was especially efficient, inducing a string of ground balls and even fielding four herself during a perfect start.

The game’s biggest turning point came in the fourth. After Fogan ripped a one-out triple to left, Gregg slammed the door with back-to-back strikeouts to escape the jam. That momentum carried straight into the Raiders’ bats.

In the bottom half, Brielle Kline sparked things with a bunt single and a stolen base. Kylie Harner followed with an RBI knock, and Gregg helped her own cause with a ground ball that brought home another run to make it 2-0.

Benjamin Logan added insurance in the fifth. Neveah Fogle led off with a triple, and later Harner came through again with a two-out, two-RBI single to extend the lead to 4-0.

Bellefontaine threatened late, putting runners on in both the sixth and seventh innings, but Gregg stayed composed and shut the door each time to seal the win.

Harner led the Raiders offensively with a two-hit, three-RBI performance, while six different players recorded hits. For the Lady Chieftains, Joy Fogan, Ava Dolan, Rylee Crabtree, and Alayna Boyd each picked up a hit.

Benjamin Logan improves to 6-5 and will travel to Riverside on Saturday night, while Bellefontaine falls to 3-10 and will regroup ahead of a two-game set with Jonathan Alder.

Mechanicsburg 20, Catholic Central 4 (5 innings)

Mechanicsburg’s offense erupted in a big way, rolling past Catholic Central 20-4 in a run-rule victory to secure its first win of the season.

The Lady Indians made the most of their opportunities, scoring 20 runs on 11 hits, nine walks, and taking advantage of 12 Irish errors.

They set the tone early with four runs in the first inning, highlighted by RBI hits from Bella Batkiewicz and Avery McDowell. Harper Martin also added to the surge, eventually scoring after a double and aggressive baserunning.

Mechanicsburg kept the pressure on in the second. With two outs, a string of plays—including an RBI triple from McDowell—pushed the lead to 7-0.

Catholic Central answered with three runs in the bottom of the second, but the Lady Indians immediately responded with a five-run outburst, fueled by McDowell’s bases-clearing triple, to take a commanding 12-3 lead.

After the Irish scratched across one more run in the third, Mechanicsburg put the game out of reach in the fourth with an eight-run inning. Despite just a few hits, patience at the plate and defensive miscues helped the Lady Indians pile on.

McDowell led the charge with a perfect 4-for-4 performance and five RBIs, while Batkiewicz, Addison Gladman, and Aubrie Retterer each added two hits. In the circle, Mechanicsburg pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts.

The Lady Indians improve to 1-10 and will look to build momentum in a two-game series against West Liberty-Salem starting Monday.

Madison Plains 12, Triad 11

Triad couldn’t quite hold off Madison Plains, surrendering the lead late and falling just short in a wild 12-11 battle.

The Lady Cardinals came out firing, erupting for six runs in the opening inning. Riley Haser got things started, scoring on an error after swiping third, and the pressure never let up. With the bases loaded via hit-by-pitches, Savannah Thomas and Haillei Jenkins drew back-to-back walks, a wild pitch brought in another, and Adyson Feasel capped the inning with a two-RBI single to center to make it 6-0.

Madison Plains answered right back in the second, putting up five runs using a mix of timely hits, walks, and Triad miscues to cut the deficit to just one.

Triad kept swinging, though. Addisyn Matthews delivered a two-RBI double in the third, and Thomas added an RBI triple in the fourth to push the lead to 9-6 after four innings.

The turning point came in the fifth, when Madison Plains broke through with a six-run inning. Four hits—including a bases-clearing two-out double—paired with multiple Cardinal errors flipped the game and gave the Golden Eagles a 12-9 lead.

Triad made one final push in the seventh. Gracie Goehring and Thomas reached to start the inning, and Jenkins drove in a run with a single. Another run scored on a double play, bringing the Cardinals within one, but the tying run was left stranded at second to end the game.

Four Triad players—Haser, Thomas, Jenkins, and Feasel—each drove in two runs. Triad falls to 3-11 and will take on West Jefferson on Monday.

London 11, Indian Lake 4

Indian Lake stayed within striking distance early but couldn’t keep up with a late surge from London, falling 11-4.

Both teams traded runs in the third, with the Lakers getting on the board thanks to a two-out RBI double from MacKenzie Miller. Kyler Carruthers was sharp in the circle early, keeping London off balance through the first few innings.

The Red Raiders broke things open in the fifth, stringing together a triple and capitalizing on a pickoff error to plate two runs. They kept the momentum going in the sixth with a two-RBI double and an RBI groundout to stretch the lead.

Indian Lake tried to answer in the bottom half. Miller came around to score on an error, and Carruthers helped her own cause with a solo home run to left, continuing her strong all-around performance.

However, London slammed the door in the seventh with a five-run inning to put the game out of reach.

Miller led the Lakers with two hits and an RBI, while Carruthers’ home run and an RBI from Lillian Strauser accounted for the rest of the scoring. Indian Lake drops to 4-10 and will face Greenon on Saturday.

North Union 10, Urbana 3

Urbana couldn’t slow down North Union’s steady offensive attack, falling 10-3.

The Wildcats wasted no time getting started, using three straight singles in the first inning to jump out to an early lead. They then created separation in the fourth, plating five runs with consistent contact at the plate and taking advantage of a few Urbana defensive miscues.

Trailing 6-0, the Lady Hillclimbers showed some fight late. Isla Wooten drove in a run with an RBI double in the fifth, but North Union answered right back in the bottom half with an RBI single to keep control.

In the sixth, Bailee Packer provided a spark with a two-run homer, briefly cutting into the deficit, but once again the Wildcats responded with a pair of RBI singles to halt any momentum.

Addison Fox and Wooten each recorded two hits to lead Urbana offensively, while Packer’s home run gave her the team lead in RBIs. Urbana falls to 7-5 and will prepare for Northeastern on Saturday.

Tecumseh 14, Graham 4

The Graham Lady Falcons couldn’t keep pace with a hot Tecumseh lineup, falling 14-4 in a CBC matchup.

The Lady Arrows came out swinging and never really let up, piling on eight runs over the first four innings behind a steady stream of hits. Tecumseh racked up 13 hits in the game and kept Graham off the scoreboard through the first three frames.

Graham finally broke through in the bottom of the fourth. Mariah Sizemore jumpstarted the inning with a leadoff double, and Abby Chamberlain followed with a single to put runners on the corners. Sophia Fraley and Brinlee Middleton each delivered RBI hits to get the Falcons on the board and cut the deficit to 8-2.

Tecumseh quickly answered, adding a run in the sixth before putting the game out of reach in the seventh. The Lady Arrows scored five runs in the inning, capitalizing on a mix of walks, a couple of hits, and defensive miscues by Graham.

The Falcons showed a bit of late life when Malynn Bacher launched a two-run homer, but that would be the final scoring as Tecumseh closed out the 14-4 win.

Sizemore, Chamberlain, and Middleton each recorded two hits to lead the Graham offense, while Bacher’s home run accounted for two RBIs.

Graham falls to 4-8 and will look to bounce back against Houston on Saturday.

Southeastern 8, West Liberty-Salem 0

West Liberty-Salem struggled to generate offense against a dominant Southeastern pitching performance, falling 8-0.

The Lady Trojans set the tone early, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding two more in the second to quickly build a comfortable lead. They continued to tack on runs in the fourth, finishing with eight runs on 11 hits.

Southeastern’s Reese Wells was in complete control in the circle, racking up an impressive 16 strikeouts and allowing very little contact all game.

The Lady Tigers managed just two hits—one each from Karlee Lucas and Ashlyn Yeater—while Olivia Reichardt reached base on an error, accounting for their only baserunners.

West Liberty-Salem falls to 4-9 and will look to bounce back against North Union on Saturday.
