Bellefontaine’s Gracie Hood continued her strong showing at the 2026 Junior Gold Championships in Minneapolis, Minnesota, moving into third place overall at the halfway point of qualifying.
Competing in the 18U girls’ division, Hood followed her opening 807 series with an even stronger performance Tuesday evening at Cedarvale Lanes. She rolled games of 246, 173, 247, and 201 for an 867 series and a 216.75 average for the block.
Through eight qualifying games, Hood has a total pinfall of 1,674, averaging 209.25 per game. She currently sits in third place overall, trailing tournament leader Taylor Kretz of Erie, Pennsylvania, by 89 pins and is just four pins behind second-place Bailey Secrest of Bellevue, Nebraska.
The Junior Gold Championships feature many of the nation’s top youth bowlers, with competitors bowling 16 qualifying games over four days. At the conclusion of qualifying, only the top 52 bowlers in the 18U girls’ division will advance to the next stage of the tournament.
Hood has two qualifying blocks remaining as she looks to maintain her place near the top of the standings:
- Wednesday, July 15 – 11:30 a.m. at Lucky Strike Eden Prairie
- Thursday, July 16 – 7:00 a.m. at Cedarvale Lanes
With half of qualifying complete, Hood is in an excellent position heading into the final eight games as she continues her pursuit of a berth in the championship rounds of one of youth bowling’s most prestigious national tournaments.
