VARSITY BOYS: Lima Shawnee 64, Indian Lake 40

Indian Lake ran into a physical Lima Shawnee squad Saturday night, as the Indians controlled the game with size and presence inside. Beckett Bertke led all scorers with 23 points.

Indian Lake’s offense went cold late, scoring just 10 points in the second half.

Despite the loss, it was a special Senior Day for the Lakers, honoring Cooper Hall, Weston Campbell, Avery Pequignot, and Owen Kaser.

Kaser, a longtime Laker supporter, dressed for the game, was announced as a starter, and recorded an assist in a heartwarming moment that brought the home crowd to its feet.

Earlier in the week, Indian Lake clinched the outright CBC Mad River Division title with a road win at Benjamin Logan and celebrated the accomplishment by cutting down the nets at home.

Bellefontaine dropped a hard-fought non-league matchup Friday night on the road at Jonathan Alder.

The loss moves the Chiefs to 9–10 overall, while the league-leading Alder Pioneers improve to 8–1 in the CBC and 15–5 overall.

Bellefontaine had two players reach double figures:

  • Grayson Lotts – 13 points

  • Patrick Stolly – 10 points, 7 rebounds

Jonathan Alder’s Danny Bentley led all scorers with 19 points.

  • Sutton Daring – 16 points

  • Spencer Stolly – 12 points

The Lady Lakers jumped out to a 15–6 first-quarter lead and stayed in control the rest of the way to secure a road win.

A historic night unfolded at West Liberty-Salem as the Lady Tigers rolled past Jonathan Alder.

Ava Astorino scored her 1,000th career point, becoming just the 10th player in program history to reach the milestone.

As the basket fell, play stopped, the crowd erupted, and her teammates rushed the floor in front of a packed home gym.

Astorino finished with 13 points, while Addi Wallen led the Tigers with 14. West Liberty-Salem improved to 18–2 on the season.
