Clary Headed to Muskingum for Soccer

Indian Lake soccer standout Carson Clary has signed to continue his career at Muskingum University, where he will play for the Muskies men’s soccer program.

Clary toured the campus this spring and said the coaching staff and facilities helped make his decision an easy one.

A four-year contributor for the Lakers, Clary earned CBC First Team, Second Team, and Honorable Mention recognition during his career. He was also named All-District Second Team as a junior and All-District Third Team as a senior.

Henry Taking Track Talents to Muskingum

Indian Lake multi-sport athlete Gavin Henry will also be attending Muskingum University, where he plans to continue his track and field career as a hurdler.

Henry excelled in football, wrestling and track throughout his high school career. He helped lead the Lakers football team to a State Final Four appearance, earned an alternate spot at the OHSAA Wrestling Tournament and capped off his senior season by setting the school record in the 110-meter hurdles while qualifying for the state track meet.

His accomplishments include First Team CBC Defensive Back, Second Team All-District Defensive Back, Wrestling Sectional Runner-Up, First Team All Greater Miami Valley Wrestling, First Team CBC honors in both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, and State Qualifier recognition in the 110 hurdles.

“The coaching staff were all very nice and genuine people. They also work well with Nursing, so I can study Nursing and run track without worrying.”

Henry plans to pursue a nursing degree and hopes to become an emergency flight nurse.

Kinney Signs with UNOH Golf Program

Indian Lake senior Alex Kinney has signed with the women’s golf program at University of Northwestern Ohio.

Kinney spent three seasons leading the Varsity Lady Lakers golf team and earned First Team All-CBC honors as both a junior and senior after receiving Honorable Mention recognition as a sophomore.

Following knee surgery last fall, Kinney is looking forward to returning to competition at the collegiate level.

In the classroom, she plans to study Agribusiness and Accounting while pursuing a CPA track. Kinney has already established herself as a young entrepreneur, operating A2 Berry Farm near Lewistown. Her business efforts earned statewide recognition through Ohio FFA this year.

With Clary, Henry and Kinney all continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level, Indian Lake’s Signing Day class continues to showcase the talent and dedication of Laker student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom.

Miller Ready for Return on the Mat at North Central

After a difficult year recovering from an injury, Indian Lake State Runner-Up wrestler Maddie Miller is ready to return to competition after signing to wrestle for North Central College in Illinois.

Miller was sidelined during her senior season, but her junior campaign showcased the determination and talent that made her one of the area’s top wrestlers. She captured multiple tournament championships and battled her way to the OHSAA State Championship match before finishing as State Runner-Up.

In addition to her success on the wrestling mat, Miller was a key contributor for the Indian Lake track and field team. She earned First Team CBC honors in discus and received Honorable Mention recognition in shot put.

Inspired by Indian Lake Athletic Trainer Holly King, Miller plans to study physical therapy while pursuing her goal of becoming a collegiate athletic trainer.

With Clary, Henry, Kinney and Miller all continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level, Indian Lake’s Signing Day class continues to showcase the talent, resilience and dedication of Laker student-athletes both in competition and in the classroom.
